Hi, this Mitch again, I think the blog is set up so anyone can leave comments. We would love to hear how you are doing. We would love to get some feedback, or suggestions.
I cannot believe another week has gone by.... Just wanted to let you know that I appreciate your opinions voiced in blog. Just leaving for lunch, I'm going to get my balanced! salad, come back to my desk and really read through the information that you shared. More Later! Claire
Hi Claire, thanks for the response. Shannon and I both are sooo happy that you are sticking this out. It is always a struggle, but seems to stick to us so easily. If you don't mind me asking, which program did you choose?
I commented to Shannon about an e-book that I had purchased a couple of months ago, that I am only now getting to reading. It's called Burn the Fat by Tom Venuto. Tom is an ex professional body builder, at least off the curcuit, however he maintains this website (just type in Burn the Fat), writes books etc etc. His story of being a clean successful body builder struck me. I was into the body building scene for several years while teaching a dance aerobic class at a local womens health club back in the seventies. Has it been that LONG AGO!!!!! Being half hungarian, well you get the idea. My Grandmother would have been a contender in Wrestlemania or smackdown. Being an Endomorph with a wee amount of mesomorph. I have always responded the best to cardio and weights. Going through the chapter on goal setting got me thinking about how things are now vs how things were. This author has all the markers from my past. Anthony Robbins, Jim Rohn, Zig Zigler, some of the best motivational speakers in the world in my opinion. I have seen the first two in person and I think Shannon has a new career ahead. This is one of the best chapters on Goal setting that I have read in a very long time. In fact, I just might copy it off and send it to whoever would like a copy. Not only for weight loss but for students( I'm making my 15 year old read it) anyone! His food plan is pretty basic and straight forward. Balanced and no processed foods. I'm trying not to read ahead. NO I have never read the last page of a book first. So what are my goals, what are your goals, if you don't know what they are then get busy. My goals are to keep looking ahead at what I need to do to be the person that I know I am. I desire strength, not only in mind but of body. I desire the faith of knowing that I can do this once and for all. I desire understanding to know why I did this to myself and to never let it happen again. I have always believed that when I really want to get this off then I will because I have done it before. But one of the things that really hit home about the goal setting is that if you don't put a time frame on something and put the emotional tie to that goal then you will put it off and you will never reach it. In the last 2-3 years, I have been through 2- twelve week programs with Weight Watchers (also life time member). One 5 week class with Kaiser. One 12 week class with Kaiser. Jenny Craig, also member for life, tried the Zone (I may look into that again). Mitch, you are correct, most people will never get the results they want if they don't exercise. In all that time I maybe lost 10lbs but thankfully never gained more back than I had lost. I had no formal exercise program other than walking and I'm sorry I just don't like to set out on a walk. It's like chasing the little white ball around. I joined Curves last August and have never been back. They like me because I pay them monthly and never wear out the equipment! So I have to get back to work, lunch is over. Bottom line, this is it for me. I'm done Curves here I come! Be Well, Claire
I need to come clean and say that this is the first time I have logged on to the blog since this started. Honestly speeking I have not been following any plan and it has almost been a month which makes me feel really guilty.I had every intention of letting you know I was dropping out. But after reading some of the entries I have found some renewed hope. I think it's great that both of you (Shannon and Mitch) are doing this together. Thanks for the encouragement. -Michele Graves
With your renewed hope, it makes me want to do this even more. I am in this for a year at the least. I have set my realistic goals and it will take me a year to loose the 100 lbs that I need to take off. And this is not to get down to "The worlds next top model", this is to get me to a realistic weight for the mother of 3 children over the age of 50. I'm in this for the long haul......is there anyone else?
