Week 2, Day 1

Well, I had weight loss of 3 pounds this week for a -1.24%.

The accomplishment I am most proud of this week is incorporating walking into my daily routine. Due to excruciating plantar fasciitis, I really have not been able to walk very much. The pain has been constant, all day, every day. My hubby suggested I use a foam roller on my calf which I quickly dismissed. So I went to an acupuncturist, podiatrist, ordered funky socks that you wear at night to keep your foot flexed, and a boot to no avail. Pain, all day, every day.

So my husband suggested so lovingly again, why don't you try the foam roller while we are watching (you guessed it) The Biggest Loser! So I said ok, what do I have to lose? And who'd a thunk, my husband was right. The problem, a tight calf muscle. Don't get me wrong, the foam roller hurt at first (ALOT!), but I have made an unbelievable recovery. Sorry, I ever doubted you honey, and thank you!

So this week every evening, after dinner and the dishes, my 5 year old twins (Jenna and Evan) and I have been going for an evening walk. One night this week, I was soooooo tired I attempted to get out of it... LOL! I had hoped initially they would forget. Didn't happen. I said, come on, mom is tired lets not go tonight. I hate to admit it, but I even tried to bribe them. They said, No, Mom. It is time for our walk now lets go! How could I say no? So we went for our walk, and afterward I felt so good and was very glad I wasn't successful in my plea. I thanked them for being such good walking partners!

On Saturday, they rode their bikes and I did almost 1.5 miles. I walked the straight aways and even jogged the corners! Exercise has always been my achilles heal.... but now with my kids doing it with me, it is a blast.

I want everyone to remember, that no matter what your weight loss/gain was this last week be proud of yourself! This isn't going to happen overnight and steady Eddie always wins the race!

A few things you might choose to focus on this week:

  1. Make every bite count and consciously choose what food you put in your mouth.
  2. Set one goal and with it a reward (non-food related).
Take care everyone!
S.

  1. I received this from Lynda Hyland. Thanks for sharing and most of all have fun in Hawaii!

Just had to share with you a class I took today, Zoomba. I took the class at 24 HR Fitness. It was like going salsa dancing. We got a real workout but oh was it fun. The leader stressed not to worry if you were new just keep moving. The music was great and it was just an all around fun class.
Check it out. You can get a seven day pass online and try out any class that might interest you.

  2. One more from Linda! Sorry, I spelled you name incorrectly in my previous post!

FYI fellow Losers, Costco is offering a prepaid membership to 24Hr Fitness for $199. This is a two year membership with no initiation fee. The monthly rate comes to $12.50 I've been to two different water aerobics classes and walked on the treadmill. There are a lot of people out there just like us working very hard to be healthy. It's quite inspiring. I didn't feel like they were just a lot of super jocks either. I am impressed by how hard they work to be healthy. I had already signed up on a month to month member ship for $30 a month but may switch over because I feel like this is something I can really benefit from.
I'm going to do better on my eating tomorrow. How about the rest of you ? One day at a time. I really do feel we are in the same boat as the alcoholics and drogues, our drug of choice just happens to be legal and it's FOOD. It may not kill us but I do feel like it has taken the life I once enjoyed away. I'm so tired of feeling out of control.
    Stick with it.
    Linda

  3. I have never had that kind of problem with food (other things yeah!) so obviously I can't fully identify, but food can kill you. It might take a long time but slowly and surely it will (if of course it is junk). Yes, it is hard work to stay in shape. You can do it though. The alternative (as you said in your own way) is certainly much more difficult anyway.
